AD Code Registration

An AD Code (Authorized Dealer Code) is a mandatory 14-digit code issued by your bank that links your account to customs for export and import transactions. Without it, ICEGATE cannot generate a shipping bill — and your goods cannot clear customs. EG Global Connect handles bank coordination, document preparation, and ICEGATE submission so your export operations run without delays.

What is AD Code Registration?

Understanding why this code matters before you ship a single consignment

An AD Code is issued by a bank branch authorized by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to deal in foreign exchange. It links your Import Export Code (IEC) and current account to the ICEGATE customs portal, confirming that any foreign currency you receive or pay for trade is moving through a legitimate banking channel.

AD Code registration must be completed separately for each port you plan to ship from — whether by sea, air, or land. Once registered and approved, your AD Code becomes visible on ICEGATE for that port, and you can generate shipping bills for your exports without interruption.

Why AD Code Registration Is Mandatory

Skipping this step is one of the most common reasons export shipments get stuck at customs

Required for Shipping Bills

Without a registered AD Code, ICEGATE cannot generate a shipping bill — and customs cannot clear your export consignment.

Tracks Export Payments

Links your IEC to your bank account so payments from overseas buyers are received, tracked, and reconciled correctly.

FEMA & RBI Compliance

Confirms that your foreign exchange transactions are processed through an RBI-authorized banking channel.

Port-Wise Registration

Need to ship from multiple ports? Each port requires its own AD Code registration — we coordinate this for you.

Access to Export Incentives

A valid AD Code is required to claim government export benefits such as duty drawback and RoDTEP.

Avoid Costly Delays

Missing, expired, or incorrect AD Code details are a leading cause of goods being held at customs — sometimes for weeks.
